Currently before the era’s of flat and thin tv coming, we know that the old big box television are quite booming, but then the newest flat tv proofing that they only required more less energy consumption then the old television.

That what make it more eco friendly tv, and because of the size and the shape, everyone just kept on liking this type of television. But then you might be confuse on these day television, such as plasma tv, lcd tv, and led tv. Lets find out the differences.

Plasma TV
Some says that it is more suitable for watching movie. Why because if placed in a very bright room, the picture will look dimmer than LCDs. However, if placed in the room a bit dim, got blacker density then LCD. In addition, Plasma-TV are better in minimal blur / ghosting, no Clouding. Plasma-TV point of view is also very wide.
Lighting and color, derived from Gas Plasma Pixel its own (not use Backlight).

LCD-TV
More suited for gaming / browsing / PC (color and contrast sort of bright). If placed in a very bright room, images and colors brighter than Plasma-TV. However, for fast motion scenes / sports broadcasts, vulnerable ghosting / blur.
Backlight LCD-TV use for lighting, & Use of liquid crystals, for color reproduction.

LED-TV
The work principle similar to the LCD-TV, the difference is only in the backlight used.
LCD-TV using Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL) & LED-TVs using LED as a backlight.

Okay now lets be more specific with the energy consumption.
LCD-TV in general the power consumption will remain constant, according as stated in the specifications,
Both dark or bright scenes consume the same energy, because, Backlight is behind the LCD screen is always ON and hold.
However, there are few manufacturers of LCD-TVs that use technology to reduce the intensity of light Backlight, to power more efficiently.

Plasma power consumption listed in the specification is, electricity consumption while displaying a white image static (stationary), with normal brightness and contrast.
Actually, electricity consumption in Plasma-TV, following the changing scene illumination. So, when dark scene, the power consumption is not too different from the power on the LCD-TV.
